Endorse the Grand Bargain

I fully support the process of refining the grand bargain to reflect the will of the American people, and spur the next administration and Congress to adopt the agreement as their governing agenda.

Our country is in crisis. The House, Senate and President are consistently failing to make progress on the issues that will determine whether we, the American people, thrive in the years ahead.

To meet this challenge, the Center for Collaborative Democracy (CCD) has launched the Grand Bargain Project, which is designed to unite most citizens around a practical plan to advance six objectives that 90+ percent of Americans see as critical to their families’ future:

-Boosting economic mobility, productivity, and growth
-Reform education so students reach their potential
-Making healthcare more effective and less costly
-Curbing the national debt
-Promoting more efficient, cleaner and reliable energy
-Making the tax code fairer and simpler

To start making progress in all six areas, CCD commissioned a diverse team of former policymakers and think tank leaders to develop common sense reforms that, in aggregate, would improve nearly every American’s prospects.

The plan is constantly being updated with input from major stakeholders and from citizens left and right, young and old, white and of color, coastal and heartland.

Among the people who have seen the evolving agreement, 89 percent have agreed that it would be better for their families and the entire country than the direction we are now headed.

The Center for Collaborative Democracy is a 501(c)3 Nonprofit and the sponsor of the Grand Bargain Project. We strive to help every American reach their potential by working with business leaders, consumer advocates, labor unions, environmentalists, civil rights groups and other major stakeholders to develop innovative solutions for our nation’s most critical problems. We see that process as necessary to reduce the hyper-polarization that threatens our democracy.
